What is effective hiring?
Effective hiring goes beyond simply filling a vacancy. It is about ensuring that a candidate not only possesses the right knowledge and experience, but also fits in with the role, the team and the organisational culture. Behaviour, communication style and motivation play a key role in this, alongside the CV.
A sustainable match is achieved when it is clear from the outset what a role actually requires. Not only in terms of professional knowledge and experience, but also in terms of behaviour, teamwork, responsibility and motivation.
89%
Of failed placements are due to a mismatch in behavior and motivation.

A new employee may meet all the requirements on paper and yet fail to settle in properly. This is by no means always down to a lack of willingness or commitment. Sometimes there is a mismatch that was not sufficiently apparent during the selection process.
For example, someone might communicate differently from what is expected within the team, derive energy from tasks other than those offered by the role, or have different expectations of how people work together within the organisation.
An unclear job profile, insufficiently articulated expectations or inadequate onboarding can also lead to a placement failing. A mismatch therefore does not lie solely with the candidate, but can also arise because the role, team and organisation were not clearly defined in advance.
Mismatches cost time, money and energy, both for the organisation and for the employee. Gaining insight into behaviour and motivation during the selection process helps to address relevant differences and expectations at an earlier stage.
How do DISC and motivators help with hiring?
DISC and motivators provide recruiters and hiring managers with two complementary perspectives from which to view candidates and roles.
A DISC assessment reveals the behavioural and communication preferences a person exhibits. How does a person tackle problems? How does a person try to get others on board? How does a person deal with change, pace, rules and procedures?
A DISC profile does not automatically predict how someone will act in every situation. However, it does offer concrete starting points for asking further questions during the interview about behaviour in various work situations.
Motivators add the motivational layer to this. What does a person value? Which tasks and circumstances energise them? Which aspects of a role are less naturally appealing to them? And to what extent does the working environment align with what motivates them?
Combining DISC and motivators provides a more complete picture than one based on a CV or a job interview alone. The profiles do not pass judgement on suitability, but help to ask more targeted questions and explore expectations on both sides.

From selection to successful placement
Hiring using DISC and motivators does not stop at selecting a candidate. The insights are also valuable during onboarding and the candidate’s initial period in the role.
With DISC and motivators, you can work on:
DISC and motivators are not standalone selection tools in this context. They are combined with information on competencies, experience, practical examples, references and the requirements of the role.
By utilising these insights even after the selection process, hiring becomes more than just a selection exercise. It forms the basis for careful onboarding, targeted support and long-term employability.
Do you want to make better matches and reduce the risk of mismatches? Then DISC and motivators can help you to better understand candidates, roles and working environments. Not just what someone brings to the table on paper, but also the behaviour they display and what motivates them.
A DISC assessment and motivation profile provide practical insights that deepen the conversation and support the selection process. This ensures that hiring is not based solely on a first impression or gut feeling, but on a conscious assessment of multiple relevant sources of information.
